Stone Mill House in Charente Maritime
Chez Moulin de Beaumont is a typical old stone millhouse in Charente Maritime, which has been been renovated to provide a light, airy place to stay. With 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, additional WC, open plan kitchen and sitting room, there is plenty of space to enjoy this beautiful millhouse.
French doors lead to the enclosed patio with views of the pool, stream, garden; in which, many flowers, plants, herbs, fig and persimmon trees grow. Please feel free to pick and use the herbs for your culinary dishes, during your stay.
With the aim of helping you make the most of your holiday, pool and garden furniture, (as well as garden games, such as boules and badminton), are all provided, plus of course, the all essential barbecue and tools. Bikes are also available, making the trip to the boulangerie, a relaxing 5 minute cycle ride away.
The secluded walled and terraced solar heated pool (10m x 5m), is a great sun trap and is for the exclusive use of holiday guests. There is an extensive terrace with ambiant lighting so you can swim all night or just enjoy balmy evenings by the pool. In order to comply with French safety recommendations, the pool is also fenced and gated.
Across the lane from the mill house, the farmer is happy to sell his produce, including delicious Charentaise melons, directly to you and thus saving yourself a trip to the shops.
Mill House Kitchen/Open Plan Area
This open plan kitchen/living area has most necessary mod cons needed to make your stay a comfortable one. There is all the usual kitchen equipment, including a microwave and dishwasher. There is even a cool bag and picnic plates provided for your day trips out. The dining table seats eight comfortably. For those rare times when taking a dip in the pool, sunbathing or just enjoying the surroundings is not enough, a TV, video player, CD/radio cassette, i-pod docking station and family board games are also supplied for your entertainment. Wifi is also available.
There is a folder setting out local information, a guide to restaurants, towns to visit and 'things to do' in and around the area.
Sitting Room
The feature staircase leads to a bright, sunny sitting room. To help you relax there are two sofas, a beautiful French 'day bed', a second TV for a DVD player, a selection of DVDs, a small library of paperbacks, colouring books for the younger members of the family, board games, travel chess and jigsaw puzzles for your enjoyment. The sitting room looks out over the garden and farmer's fields.
Bathroom & Downstairs Double Bedroom
The bathroom and one double bedroom are on the ground floor. As well as the double bed, there is also a wardrobe with plenty of hanging space, chest of drawers and bedside tables. This bedroom looks out over the front of the house, where the farmer grows peppers, tomatoes, aubergines etc. The bathroom is fully tiled and complete with corner bath, shower, washbasin and WC. For added 'convenience' there is also a separate WC next door.
Twin Bedroom
Bedroom two is the twin bedded room with a wardrobe with lots of hanging space and shelves and a chest of drawers. If requested, a 'Z' bed can be made available to enable 3 children to share a room. A cot can also be provided upon request.
Upstairs Double Bedroom
The upstairs double bedroom overlooks the pool area, stream, bridge, garden and farmer's fields beyond. It has plenty of space to accommodate a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables and full length mirror.
The Garden
As well as proving to be a wildlife haven, the garden provides hours of fun 'pond-dipping' for crayfish, tadpoles and small fish. All we ask is that everything caught is carefully returned to the stream or mill pond opposite the house. The moulin's interesting garden is part of the charm of the property, being large enough to play ball games, endlessly run around or simply find a quiet, sheltered spot to tuck yourself away in with a good book and just your thoughts.
Linen for the Mill House in Charente Maritime
All bed linen is included in the cost of your holiday with a change of linen supplied, if requested, at the end of each week of your stay. Hand, bath and tea towels are also included. However, beach/pool towels are not included but can be provided at a small additional cost. For guests' use, an automatic washing machine, iron, ironing board and tumble dryer* are also provided and included in the cost of your holiday.
