Le Moulin de Beaumont is an old stone mill house in Charente Maritime, which has been been renovated to provide a light, airy place to stay. With 3 bedrooms, a family bathrooom, en suite shower room, open plan kitchen and sitting room, there is plenty of space to enjoy this beautiful mill house.
French doors lead to the patio with views of the pool, stream, garden; in which, many flowers, plants, herbs, fig and persimmon trees grow. Please feel free to pick and use the herbs for your culinary dishes, during your stay.
With the aim of helping you make the most of your holiday, pool and garden furniture, (as well as garden games, such as boules and badminton), are all provided, plus of course, the all essential barbecue and tools. Bikes are also available, making the trip to the boulangerie, a relaxing 5 minute cycle ride away.
The secluded walled and terraced, heated, salt water pool (10m x 5m) is a perfect sun trap and is for the exclusive use of our holiday guests. The extensive pool terrace with ambient lighting, means that you can swim all night under the stars or just enjoy balmy evenings by the pool. In order to comply with French safety recommendations, the pool is also fenced and gated.
The large open plan kitchen has most necessary facilities needed to make your stay a comfortable one. There is all the usual kitchen equipment, including a microwave and dishwasher. There is even a cool bag and picnic plates, beakers, wine goblets/flutes and cutlery provided for your day trips out or for use by the pool. The dining table seats eight comfortably and a highchair can be provided for the younger members of the family if required. A folder setting out local information, a guide to restaurants, towns to visit and 'things to do' in and around the area and how everything works at the moulin can be found on the dresser. A separate utility room houses the washing machine, ironing board and iron. The French doors from the kitchen open out onto the terrace with table, chairs and sun shade; perfect for eating out at any time of day, as you look out on to the garden and listen to the mill stream with the wildlife it attracts.
With two sitting rooms to relax in, Le Moulin de Beaumont provides plenty of space for all the family's needs. The main downstairs sitting room is a cosy, but bright room with two large sofas, TV, DVD and wood burning stove that leads to a south west facing covered loggia, complete with outside sofa, two arm chairs and coffee table. A perfect space for relaxing when taking time out from a dip in the heated pool.
The feature staircase leads at the heart of the house leads to a further bright, sunny sitting area. To help you relax here, there's a sofa, beautiful French 'day bed', a second TV screen with a DVD player, a selection of DVDs, a small library of paperbacks, colouring books for the younger members of the family, board games, chess and jigsaw puzzles for your enjoyment. WiFi is available throughout the house.
The master bedroom with en suite shower room is upstairs and overlooks the extensive garden, pool area, stream, bridge and farmer's fields beyond. It has plenty of space to accommodate a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables and full length mirror, with ceiling fan for warmer nights.
The second double bedroom is on the ground floor. As well as the double bed, there is a wardrobe with plenty of hanging space, chest of drawers and bedside tables. This bedroom looks out over the front of the house, where the farmer grows peppers, tomatoes, aubergines etc.
The family bathroom, which is fully tiled and complete with corner bath, shower, washbasin and WC, can be found just across from the downstairs double bedroom.
The second upstairs bedroom is a twin bedded room with a wardrobe with lots of hanging space and shelves and a chest of drawers. A travel cot can also be provided upon request.
Fans are provided in all bedrooms with a ceiling fan in the main guest room.
The extensive garden is a wildlife haven, with kingfishers, herons, swifts and swallows amongst its frequent visitors, and hours of fun can be had 'pond-dipping' for crayfish, tadpoles and small fish. All we ask is that anything caught is carefully returned to the stream or mill pond opposite the house. Le Moulin de Beaumont's interesting garden is part of the charm of the property, being large enough to play ball games, endlessly run around or simply find a quiet, sheltered spot to tuck yourself away in with a good book and just your thoughts.
All bed linen is included in the cost of your holiday, as well as hand, bath and tea towels. However, beach/pool towels are not included but can be provided at a small additional cost, which can be especially useful for guests who are travelling by plane. For guests' use, an automatic washing machine, iron, ironing board and tumble dryer* are also provided and included in the cost of your holiday. They are situated in the utility room just off the kitchen.
* Tumble drier is for winter lets only.
